Islwyn Running Club organises 4 races per year
and takes part in the Gwent Leisure League,a series of 5 road races in the summer and 5 x/country races in the winter

Home      Murder Mile
The Murder Mile is probably one of the toughest uphill miles in the country and was included in Runners World top 10 hardest races.
Race h.q.is the Penrhiwaewydd Farm Troed yr Rhiw Rd Mynyddislwyn Newbridge  and the event takes place on Fri Aug 7th at 7p.m.

The 2009 event is to be run on a new harder course starting at the bottom of
 Troed yr Rhiw Rd Wattsville and going under the main rd joining the old course before finishing 150 yrds down the driveway of Penrhiwarwydd Farm.
The course has been officially measured by Welsh Athletics

Penrhiwarwydd Farm is 1/2 mile past the Church Inn Mynyddislwyn NP12 2BG
and is the last turning left before the hill down to Wattsville.
The presentation ceremony will be held at the Church Inn
 
Congratulations to Hayden Hartnell and Maria Williams for winning their age groups in the 2009 Leisure League.
Also to Coleen Birch  for finishing 2nd and Mike Dury,Jim Dobbs and Jackie Jones for finishing 3rd
